Why need to use dynamic braking unit DBU

update2014/7/5, view
Dynamic braking unit Overvoltage Solutions aid in preventing AC drive overvoltage faults.

Overvotlage, or regenerative voltage, occurs when the speed of the motor exceeds the set speed on the drive. This can happen in many circumstances, such as slowing or stopping a process by reducing drive speed, or in applications such as cranes or downhill conveyors where the process load constantly "pulls" the motor. When this happens the motor acts as a generator, causing the DC bus voltage to rise. This excess voltage must remain below the overvoltage trip point on the drive or the drive will "trip" on an overvoltage fault.
